How do I care for my soaps?

Make sure they are not sitting in a puddle of water in the shower, let them dry out between uses, by using a draining soap dish. If you wish to store your soaps before use, you can set them in a drawer, or basket in the bathroom, they will be a nice room deodorizer.

Do you use fragrance oils for scenting?

We do use high quality fragrance oils along with essential oils to scent our soaps and sundries. If you have allergies, or are bothered by some fragrance or essential oils, we do have unscented products that hopefully will work for you.

What is so special about your handmade soaps?

Our handmade soaps are wonderful for your skin, they are silky with lots of glorious lather, and they won't dry out your skin like store bought soap. Once you try them, you will know that you are getting a luxury soap at a great price.

Where are you located?

We are in Valdez, Alaska, which happens to be a very beautiful place to reside. We have no traffic, no crowds, we live on the ocean, and are blessed with an abundance of fresh clean wonderful tasting water. We also have every outdoor activity that you could imagine at our fingertips, we wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

What if I live in Valdez, and want to pick up my order?

Just email or call us with what you would like, and we will arrange for pick up, or drop off, its that easy...our cart also now has the option of local pick up for Valdez, Alaska.

What makes your products different from commercial ones?

We are a small business that creates handcrafted soaps and sundries from high quality vegetable oils and butters. Our products are made in small batches, by hand, from start to finish, right down to the label. We are very selective on the ingredients that we use in our products, and will not sell anything that we would not use or put on our own skin. On the other hand, commercial products are made in large quantities, they add detergents and foaming agents, and are formulated to make the largest profit. Take a look at the label on commercial soap, and you will realize what the difference is.

What is handmade soap?

Soap is water, lye (sodium hydroxide), and oils. When a lye solution is mixed with fat, the chemical reaction is called saponification. The results are 3 parts soap, and 1 part glycerin; which is sought after for its ability to moisturize the skin. Handmade soap that is properly made has no lye left in it, but cannot be made without it.

How long does your soap age?

We hand cut our soaps and let them cure in the soap room for 6 to 8 weeks, before we package them for sale. They are ready after 3 weeks, but the longer they age and dry out, the milder they become, plus the bars last longer.
